Blogs and Links to Check Out

This list will grow over time - feel free to make suggestions for further sites in the comments!

EUROPE-SPECIFIC

Travel
https://www.ricksteves.com/ (Rick Steves is a man of great passion and knowledge about Europe, as anyone who has seen his travel films and lectures can attest. His politics are pretty great too!)
http://budgettraveller.org/ (This site offers lots of budget travel advice with actual prices and itineraries)
http://thesavvybackpacker.com  (Another budget-focused site with lots of specific guides and advice)

Personal
http://confessedtravelholic.com/ (a Canadian studying in Germany)
http://myberlinstory.com/  (Interesting posts related to language-learning)

European History/Art/Culture
http://joepwritesthehistoryofberlin.wordpress.com/ (interesting entries on German history)
http://melbourneblogger.blogspot.kr/  (an interesting art and history blog)

European Vegan/Vegetarian Resources
http://www.veganz.de/  (German vegan grocery chain with a few locations - seems to be expanding to other countries in Europe)

http://www.unmondevegan.com/index.cfm (A vegan grocery store in Paris!)

TRAVEL-GENERAL
http://www.aussieontheroad.com/ (interesting accounts of China, South Korea and places around the world, as well as insightful and humorous personal entries. Plus a unique and inspiring bucket list!)

LANGUAGE LEARNING
https://www.duolingo.com/  (The most useful site I have found for language-learning - tests reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, has a leveled system with "rewards" built in, incorporates previously learned grammar and vocab into subsequent lessons.)

http://www.forvo.com/ (Not sure how to pronounce a word? Hear it pronounced here! Thanks to Lee!)

http://www.openculture.com/freelanguagelessons  (Shout-out to my friend Jacob Sexton for pointing me in the direction of this great site with links to TONS of free language-learning resources. Lots to explore here!)

http://www.memrise.com/home/ (A less useful site, but good as supplementary learning. More of a "flashcard" type of language learning. Utility of lessons varies.)

http://www.deutschseite.de/index.html (good explanations of German grammar)

OTHER GOOD SITES
http://www.leegumienny.com/  (My husband is a pretty damn fine street photographer. He shoots in black and white and shoots in film. If you want to see some great shots of Korea; Portland, OR; and possibly a few of Japan, check out his site!)

http://aliensdayout.com/ (THE blog to read if you're a vegeterian/vegan in Korea, and one of the best blogs for veg/vegans in general, chock-full of great recipes, cafe reviews, and travel reports. Her baked goods are also amazing, for those who live in Korea.)

http://publicdomainreview.org/ (This is like a beautiful on-line museum of illustrations, texts and videos in the public domain which you've probably never seen, but which will amaze and delight you. One of the coolest sites I've ever come across.)
